General Manager/ Business Development Manager
The General Manager / Business Development Manager is a dual-role leadership position responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations while identifying and securing new development opportunities. This role requires deep industry knowledge, operational oversight, strategic thinking, and a strong network within the multifamily construction and real estate development sectors.

My client is a fast-growing multifamily construction and development firm focused on delivering high-quality residential communities. With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and strategic growth, we are looking for a driven and experienced General Manager / Business Development Manager to lead operations and spearhead our business expansion initiatives.
Description
General Management
Lead and manage all operational aspects of multifamily construction and development projects.
Coordinate with internal departments: construction, finance, design, permitting, and property management.
Monitor budgets, project timelines, and KPIs to ensure efficient execution.
Oversee team performance and build a high-performing company culture.
Ensure regulatory compliance and risk management across all projects.
Report to ownership/executive leadership with regular updates and strategic input.
Business Development
Identify new project opportunities through land acquisition, joint ventures, or partnerships.
Build and maintain relationships with brokers, landowners, investors, and municipalities.
Lead market research to identify high-potential areas for multifamily development.
Develop and present business cases for potential investments and partnerships.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
Lead proposal development and contract negotiations with external partners.
Profile
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
7+ years of experience in multifamily real estate development or construction, with at least 3 in a leadership capacity.
Proven track record of sourcing and executing multifamily projects from acquisition through completion.
Strong knowledge of zoning, entitlement, permitting, and development processes.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Strong financial and analytical acumen, including pro forma modeling and deal structuring.
Established industry network with brokers, lenders, architects, and contractors.
Preferred Skills
Experience in both vertical and horizontal development.
Proficiency in real estate financial modeling software (e.g., Argus, Excel).
Familiarity with local development codes, entitlement processes, and permitting authorities.
Ability to lead and grow cross-functional teams.
