General Manager/ Business Development Manager

The General Manager / Business Development Manager is a dual-role leadership position responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations while identifying and securing new development opportunities. This role requires deep industry knowledge, operational oversight, strategic thinking, and a strong network within the multifamily construction and real estate development sectors.

With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and strategic growth, we are looking for a driven and experienced General Manager / Business Development Manager to lead operations and spearhead our business expansion initiatives.

Description

• Lead and manage all operational aspects of multifamily construction and development projects.

• Coordinate with internal departments: construction, finance, design, permitting, and property management.

• Monitor budgets, project timelines, and KPIs to ensure efficient execution.

• Oversee team performance and build a high-performing company culture.

• Ensure regulatory compliance and risk management across all projects.

• Report to ownership/executive leadership with regular updates and strategic input.

• Identify new project opportunities through land acquisition, joint ventures, or partnerships.

• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, landowners, investors, and municipalities.

• Lead market research to identify high-potential areas for multifamily development.

• Develop and present business cases for potential investments and partnerships.

• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.

• Lead proposal development and contract negotiations with external partners.

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).

• 7+ years of experience in multifamily real estate development or construction, with at least 3 in a leadership capacity.

• Proven track record of sourcing and executing multifamily projects from acquisition through completion.

• Strong knowledge of zoning, entitlement, permitting, and development processes.

• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

• Strong financial and analytical acumen, including pro forma modeling and deal structuring.

• Established industry network with brokers, lenders, architects, and contractors.

• Experience in both vertical and horizontal development.

• Proficiency in real estate financial modeling software (e.g., Argus, Excel).

• Familiarity with local development codes, entitlement processes, and permitting authorities.

• Ability to lead and grow cross-functional teams.
