Business Development Manager & Licensing - CRO - REMOTE

Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive business development & licensing strategy aligned with corporate and portfolio objectives. Identify and assess potential external business opportunities, including out-licensing, co-development, spin-offs, and acquisitions.

Client Details

My client is a Contract Research Organization and leading innovator in drug discovery, preclinical research, in vivo, mouse models, antibody discovery, and more! They partner with a majority of the top pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide. The company's comprehensive platform, leveraging advanced gene editing technologies and a state-of-the-art animal facility, accelerates the discovery and development of novel therapeutics. They offer a suite of services, including animal model creation, therapeutic antibody discovery, and rigorous preclinical testing, to help its partners advance innovative medicines and improve patient outcomes.

My client is rapidly expanding in the United States and looking to build out a new BD team focused on out-licensing opportunities. This is a fully remote role anywhere on the East or West Coast.

Description

  • Business Development Strategy: Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive business development & licensing strategy aligned with corporate and portfolio objectives.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify and assess potential external business opportunities, including out-licensing, co-development, spin-offs, and acquisitions.
  • Business Case Development: Develop and present well-structured business cases for prioritized opportunities, including robust analyses, key assumptions, risks, and internal/external input.
  • Deal Execution: Lead and manage external opportunities, including due diligence, alliance management, negotiations, deal closure, and post-deal integration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with R&D, CMC, Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, and Finance, serving as the primary BD contact person in certain instances.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent at industry conferences, investor meetings, and partnering events, building and maintaining relationships with key pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry participants.
  • Operational Expertise: Demonstrate a strong understanding of BD operations and transactions, including proposal development, term sheet negotiations, and alliance management.

Profile

  • Ph.D. in a Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry or other related field.
  • Up to 4 years of experience in business development, research and development, or strategic planning within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Expertise in business development and licensing, along with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical research and development processes.
  • Ability to think strategically and analyze data effectively to develop and execute sound business strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, tailored to effectively engage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Open to communicating with international colleagues during off hours
  • Open to traveling both domestically and internationally
  • Strong out-licensing knowledge/background within Life Science industry
  • Proven ability to manage projects and collaborate effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced matrix environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
  • Fluent in English, with bilingual proficiency in Mandarin highly preferred.
  • Located on either the East or West Coast, preferably in Biotech/Pharma hubs.
