Quality Engineer- Defense/Space- Chelmsford, Ma

This role is crucial for developing, maintaining, and managing products and processes in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100:2016 D standards. Responsibilities include overseeing record management, creating document packages, conducting pre-production reviews, and ensuring full adherence to the company's Quality Management System (QMS).

Description


  • Manage and maintain documentation for the ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management system.
  • Lead audits of products, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Coordinate with customers and auditors for product and process approvals.
  • Oversee First Article Inspections (FAIR) and ensure proper documentation is prepared.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCCA) and implement corrective actions (CA) to address issues.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to Quality Inspectors.
  • Oversee calibration activities to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • Drive the continuous improvement and refinement of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Update the ERP system with relevant quality-related data.


Profile

  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Control and Manufacturing, specializing in technical drawing interpretation, GD&T, and AS9102.
  • Extensive experience with quality procedures, inspection methods, and NDT II (Magnetic Particle).
  • Background in working within a manufacturing environment, with expertise in metals, materials, and CNC machining.
  • Proficient in mechanical engineering principles, lean manufacturing, and performing mechanical tests such as tensile, hardness, and grain size analysis.
  • Skilled in Non-Destructive Testing (Magnetic Particle, Pressure Testing, Dye Penetrant) and familiar with AS9100 quality management standards.
  • Strong communication skills, including written and verbal, with the ability to multitask and focus on detail.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude with practical problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) for documentation and reporting.
