They're currently looking to bring on a Controller located near Romulus, MI, to take ownership of their Accounting & Finance processes, reporting directly into the Regional Director. This position would oversee two of their biggest business units, have direct visibility to executive leadership, and a clear path for progression.

Description

Controller Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and present financial summaries and budgets throughout the year.
• Inform leadership about significant deviations and their effects on operations.
• Develop and update financial forecasts and budgets regularly.
• Manage and reconcile the unit's assets with the general ledger.
• Oversee the process of competitive bidding and address financial and accounting concerns with timely recommendations.
• Review and approve all expenditures, including purchases, salaries, and payments.
• Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to enhance profitability.
• Supervise the end-of-month and end-of-year financial closing procedures and delegate tasks to the accounting team as necessary.
• Oversee financial functions including invoicing, receivables, payables, cost and inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Ensure effective internal controls for revenues, assets, and liabilities and maintain accounts according to established standards.
• Provide accurate financial information and timely reports to management.
• Assess departmental performance and adjust operations to align with overall objectives.
• Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, financial institutions, auditors, and other partners.

Profile

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in Accounting and Finance
• 2+ years of Supervisory/Management experience
• Experience in the manufacturing, distribution, or food service sector is a plus
• Experience with Cost Accounting, and Inventory Accounting
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills
