The Director of Operation, who works under the direction of the President, is responsible for managing the production of timing drive systems with overall responsibility for Safety, Quality, Productivity and Profitability for the plant

Description
- Responsible for creating a budget for the plant, and cascading to the department level.
- Establishes procedures and housekeeping methods to reduce accidents and maintain lower OSHA recordable rates. Ensures compliance with OSHA, MA Dept. of Public Safety, EPA, MA DEP. Supports Safety program through inspection, follow-up and training efforts.
- Enforces Work Instructions and Quality Standards to ensure 100% compliance with product specifications. Initiates preventive and corrective action teams to respond to quality and potential quality problems. Supports new product plans through process updates and training activities. Ensures audits of production areas to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Schedule and Resource Planning: Assures resources are in place to meet production schedule requirements, including headcount, equipment, and indirect services. Ensures disciplined reporting of inventory, scrap, and production downtime.
- Track, monitor and improve shop OEE.
- Cost Control and Continuous Improvement: Meets and exceeds budget goals on supplies, tooling, and indirect materials. Leads project work to reduce costs in high dollar areas, such as production tooling, abrasives, chemicals, lubricants, etc. Leads formal CI improvement teams through Managers, Supervisors and floor personnel.
- Empowers teams with a managerial style that is collaborative, inclusive and balanced in approach to achieve commitments. Identifies and eagerly shares and leverages best practices across the business as appropriate.
- Provides leadership and employee development through selection/talent acquisition, performance management, training/development, coaching/mentoring and motivation of management, supervisory and hourly employees in alignment with the business goals and objectives. Recognizes and rewards employees for their efforts to drive results.
- Establishes environment of Continuous Improvement to eliminate problems and reduce costs. Training, teamwork and communication are keys.
- Understands, communicates, and follows all company policies, work rules, and Union Contract.
- It is the expectation of the company that the Director of Operations will accomplish these goals by working to a high ethical standard and consistently complies with all company policies, work rules, Union Contractual agreements, and applicable laws with little to no direct supervision.
Profile
- Eight to ten years of experience effectively leading and managing people. A proven track record of implementing and successfully executing employee relations strategies and creating a positive work environment.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking with demonstrated accomplishments. Proven performance setting and exceeding customer service goals and profit targets.
- Impeccable integrity; Superior interpersonal skills; able to communicate and engage personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and/or Six Sigma training preferred.
- Microsoft Office Excel, and Word
