Estimator - Commercial Projects up to $30M - Boston
I am working with a well established construction firm to hire an Estimator for their Boston office who will support a growing pipeline of commercial, multifamily, higher education, and hospitality projects. Client Details
My client is a vertically integrated construction and development firm with offices in Lenox and Boston, delivering projects across Massachusetts. They operate across commercial, educational, multifamily, healthcare, and general contracting markets, with typical project sizes ranging from fourteen to twenty two million dollars. The company is known for long employee tenure, strong repeat business, and the ability to self perform masonry work that sets them apart in the market. Their Boston office overlooks the water in the North End, offering a modern workspace, flexible hybrid schedules, and a growing team backed by the resources of a larger headquarters. With an active growth plan, they aim to add several estimators over the next few years.
Description
- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial, multifamily, higher education, hospitality, and retail projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and subcontractor proposals for accuracy and scope alignment
- Work closely with the Chief Estimator on pricing strategies and estimate development
- Evaluate and level subcontractor bids using tools such as Building Connected
- Conduct quantity takeoffs using AutoDesk Takeoff and Excel
- Assist with conceptual estimates and budgeting for early stage planning
- Collaborate with project managers and design partners to support preconstruction workflows
- Support growth of the Boston estimating team as the office expands

Profile
- Five or more years of estimating or assistant estimating experience in general contracting
- Experience estimating commercial projects of at least five million dollars or more
- Background in multifamily, hospitality, higher education, or retail construction
- Open to candidates with MEP or carpentry estimating experience if project scale aligns
- Strong knowledge of estimating software including AutoDesk Takeoff, Excel, and Building Connected
- Ability to work in a hybrid schedule and commute to the Boston North End office
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
