Automotive - Manufacturing Site Lead - Springfield, MA
The Manufacturing Engineer Site Lead oversees engineering initiatives and guides a team of Manufacturing Engineers to meet goals related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency. This role also manages budgeting, as well as the design and integration of tooling, ensuring alignment with production performance and continuous improvement efforts.

Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage engineering projects, providing direction to Manufacturing Engineers to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals, including budget control and tooling implementation.
- Foster a collaborative work environment that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement across all operational metrics.
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards by partnering with relevant departments to improve existing processes and exceed compliance objectives.
- Oversee and ensure timely delivery to both internal and external customers, while maintaining high standards of product and process quality.
- Analyze manufacturing processes for cost efficiency and feasibility; recommend and implement improvements to reduce costs and increase productivity.
- Mentor and guide team members, promoting development and leading lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, SMED, Kanban, and Kaizen.
- Design and optimize tools, dies, and automation systems using CAD software and DFM principles; evaluate and improve existing tooling and operator practices.
- Lead manufacturing experiments, simulations, and FMEA studies to validate improvements and support project planning, justification, and reporting.
- Develop specifications for new equipment, manage installations, and ensure equipment meets qualification requirements through statistical validation methods.
- Participate in audits, design reviews, customer interactions, and workflow optimization efforts while ensuring compliance with ISO, OSHA, and internal standards.
Profile
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Access.
- Strong knowledge of print reading and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Solid understanding and application of core engineering principles.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
