Superintendent - Large Scale, Complex Projects

$110,000 - $140,000/Year
The Superintendent will serve as the on‑site construction leader, responsible for managing all field operations on large‑scale and technically complex projects. This role is ideal for a Superintendent who thrives on non‑cookie‑cutter work, active sites, tight schedules, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.

Our client is a well‑established, large‑scale general contractor headquartered in Chicago, known for delivering unique, complex, and high‑visibility construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area. Their portfolio includes challenging builds in dense urban environments, fast‑paced commercial interiors, workplace and office renovations, retail, storefronts, and specialty projects that require precision, leadership, and creativity in the field.

Description

  • Lead all on‑site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules in coordination with Project Managers
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and vendors
  • Ensure work is executed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents
  • Maintain daily jobsite reporting, look‑ahead schedules, and manpower planning
  • Enforce company safety standards and OSHA requirements
  • Coordinate inspections, permitting, and quality control processes
  • Proactively identify and resolve field issues, constructability challenges, and schedule risks
  • Serve as the primary on‑site liaison with owners, architects, and inspectors
  • Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents and field staff

Profile

  • 7+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
  • Proven experience managing large‑scale or complex projects (urban sites, occupied buildings, fast‑track schedules, or high‑finish interiors preferred)
  • Strong background in commercial interiors, office/workplace, retail, or specialty construction
  • Excellent knowledge of construction means and methods
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency with construction technology (Procore, scheduling tools, daily reporting software)
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
