Project Accountant
This Project Accountant position offers an excellent opportunity to support financial operations of this growing building and construction business across a number of different projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing project finances and ensuring accurate reporting for the department. You'll be working very closely with the Senior Accountants across the company's full portfolio.
Client Details
This small-sized organization that operates within the property and construction industry and is known for its commitment to excellence and precision. The team and business is growing, and the team require a new Project Accountant to with the increased workload. You will report directly into the Assistant Controller, and work very closely with the 2 other Senior Accountants in the team.
Description
The successful Project Accountant's responsibilities will include:
- Assisting both Senior Accountants with the day top day management of the project finance & accounting operations
- Attending the project award meeting and requesting the job numbers/division setups
- Bonds/Business licenses
- Working closely with the construction team on the client billing, reporting closeouts etc.
- Assisting with the subcontractor waiver collection
- End to end management of the Accounts Payable and Receivable ledgers for each project
- Follow up with client for all accounts receivable - escalate any potential issues in a timely manner.
- Responsible for Sage entries including budgets, subcontractor contracts and change orders
- Update subcontractors on payment status as required
- Track subcontractor preliminary notices / ensure dual party checks and/or waivers are secured from all 2nd tier vendors.
- Ad hoc duties

Profile
A successful Project Accountant should have:
- MUST have 2+ years of experience working in a similar finance role (within the construction or professional services industry is heavily preferred)
- A degree in Accounting and Finance ideally - strong knowledge of debits and credits
- A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Happy to work in the Norwell office (3-4 days per week)
