Superintendent | Wastewater Construction | Concord

My client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Superintendent to join their Water/Wastewater Division in Northern California. The Superintendent will be responsible for the overall execution of field operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with specifications and quality standards.

My client is a privately owned, family-run company with a long-standing reputation for integrity, craftsmanship, and quality. While the broader organization has a diverse construction portfolio across commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects, this division is dedicated to tunneling and water/wastewater construction.

The Northern California team is currently expanding as the company continues to grow its presence in the region. Projects are local to California - with no out-of-state travel required - and the company is known for its strong team culture, fair management style, and excellent work-life balance. Regarding the water/wastewater division, they self-perform most of their own work (concrete, mechanical, and civil scopes) and deliver projects through both design-build and bid-build methods.
Current projects include:

• Two $100M+ projects for Silicon Valley Clean Water
• $235M Ozone Project
• $35M Wastewater Rehabilitation Project

Future projects will be based throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento regions, with assignments made to ensure reasonable commutes.

Description

• Lead and coordinate all on-site field activities and crews
• Supervise field engineers and foremen across multiple trades
• Develop and implement detailed work plans and schedules
• Oversee material and equipment procurement
• Interface directly with clients, inspectors, and project management teams
• Report project progress, safety, and quality metrics to the Project Manager
• Support self-performed scopes such as structural concrete, mechanical piping, and civil excavation/pipeline work

Profile

• 10-20 years of overall construction experience, including 5-10 years as a Superintendent
• Proven track record managing water/wastewater projects valued at $5M+ (preferably $20M+)
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage diverse field teams
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
• Hands-on experience with self-perform construction operations is highly desirable
