Project Manager - Public Construction
We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager with expertise in public construction to lead and deliver capital improvement projects across Northern New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing projects for schools, municipal buildings, and other public sector developments from pre-construction through close-out.

Our client is a well-established general contracting and construction management firm based in Northern New Jersey, with over two decades of experience delivering complex public construction projects. Known for its commitment to quality, transparency, and community impact, the firm specializes in K-12 schools, higher education facilities, municipal buildings, and public safety infrastructure.
Description
Project Management: Lead and oversee public sector construction projects ranging from $5M to $50M+
Schedule Management: Manage all phases of project lifecycle including bidding, scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor management, and close-out
Quality Control: Ensure compliance with NJ public contracting laws, DCA codes, prevailing wage requirements, and relevant regulatory standards
Team Leadership: Coordinate with architects, engineers, school boards, municipal officials, and owner representatives
Safety Compliance: Monitor field activities to ensure timely execution, safety compliance, and quality control
Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting for internal and external stakeholders
Profile
Minimum 7 years of experience in construction project management, with at least 3 years in public construction in New Jersey
Proven track record delivering K-12 school, municipal, or other government-funded projects
Strong understanding of New Jersey public procurement and DCA/DOL compliance
Excellent communication, documentation, and team leadership skills
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam)
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites across Northern NJ
