Description
The Lead VDC Coordinator is responsible for:
- Preparing accurate, concise, and timely coordinated layout and fabrication drawings for Plumbing, HVAC and Process Systems
- Researching contract drawings and RFI suggestions
- Production of coordination/shop/fabrication drawings
- Using clash detection software during coordination process
- Attending coordination meetings in a support capacity
- Planning and executing drawings for complex piping systems including Mechanical Rooms, hanger drawings, pad locations, sleeves and insert drawings, final connections, isometrics, and anchors
- Coordinating complete systems from underground to roof and understand how each system is to work
- Successfully working with other trades to coordinate/layout projects
- Demonstrating the ability to review equipment submittals for the proper size, quantity and arrangement and use this information in the layout and coordination of the space and/or system
- Preparing and maintaining drawing files, posting changes to both coordination and contract documents and initiating RFIs with supporting documentation
- Maintaining project communication with the construction team
- Preparing accurate fabrication drawings piping and plumbing Systems and associated equipment
- Preparing accurate and complete bills of material for both fabrication and coordination drawings
- Preparing work in accordance with applicable plumbing, process or power piping codes
- Assisting Detailers and Detailer-In-Training
Profile
The right candidate has the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience as a designer in the construction industry - ideally with a Mechanical contractor (or engineering firm)
- Ideally background in MEP, HVAC, or Commercial - Academic, Healthcare, Lifescience projects
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
- Self-sufficient & eager to grow
- Proficiency in
- Complete Autodesk AEC Collection:
- Revit Versions 2021 to 2024 with Fabrication MEP
- Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud and Revizto
- Victaulic Tools for Revit and GTP Stratus for Fabrication Deliverables
- Bluebeam Revu
- Procore
- Microsoft Office Suite
