The Legal Counsel will provide strategic legal advice and support to ensure compliance and mitigate risks in the fast-paced luxury international retailer. This role involves handling legal matters, drafting contracts, and collaborating with internal stakeholders in the New York office.

Description

As In-House Legal Counsel, varied responsibilities include:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents in alignment with business needs.
• Provide legal counsel to the US and Canadian business and senior stakeholders on legal, compliance, regulatory matters, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with external counsel.
• Contribute to drafting company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Support the legal department in cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed.

Profile

The successful In-House Legal Counsel should have:

• A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active New York bar membership in good standing.
• Proven expertise in handling a variety of legal matters in the retail or CPG/ distribution industry or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of contract law - wholesale distribution contracts, corporate/ commercial law, corporate governance, reviewing new store leases and store fit-out contracts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving retail or CPG environment.

Job Offer

The successful In-House Legal Counsel will be well compensated:

• Competitive salary in the range of $150,000 to $175,000 base salary (depending on relevant experience)
• Annual discretionary bonus c. 10% annual bonus.
