Chief Estimator
Our client is seeking an up and coming Chief Estimator to lead the estimating department and oversee all preconstruction cost analysis for commercial interior projects in Manhattan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial interiors, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, competitive, and profitable project proposals.

Description
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management
- Direct and manage the estimating team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all bids.
- Develop and implement best practices for estimating processes and cost control.
- Preconstruction & Estimating
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial interior projects, including labor, materials, and subcontractor pricing.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine scope and pricing.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and clients during preconstruction phases.
- Present estimates and value engineering options to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Market & Risk Analysis
- Stay current on market trends, material costs, and labor rates in the Manhattan area.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate cost overruns.

Profile
Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of estimating experience in commercial interiors; prior leadership experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
Skills:
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of Manhattan construction market, building codes, and union/non-union labor practices.
