VP, Investment Officer - Fixed Income
The VP will support senior investment leadership across portfolio strategy, transaction analysis and ongoing asset oversight. This position combines strategic thinking with detailed execution, including portfolio modelling, asset allocation design, and collaboration with multiple internal functions. It also contributes investment insight to corporate transactions by developing portfolio assumptions and return expectations.

Description
Transaction & Portfolio Analysis
- Partner with corporate development stakeholders to analyse portfolios associated with potential transactions
- Assess liability-driven cash flow profiles alongside regulatory and contractual constraints
- Review existing asset positioning and propose optimisation approaches
- Produce expected return and yield analysis to support internal decision making
Asset Allocation & Balance Sheet Management
- Design and maintain long-term asset allocation frameworks for established portfolios
- Evaluate inputs from across the business, including balance sheet composition, cash forecasts, liability characteristics and market conditions
- Support asset-liability considerations within a regulated insurance structure
Investment Ideas & Strategy Development
- Identify new strategic and tactical investment opportunities across market cycles
- Translate market views into clear, well-supported investment recommendations
- Prepare materials for review by regional and group-level governance forums
- Work closely with colleagues across finance, actuarial, capital, tax, legal and treasury teams
Manager Oversight & Due Diligence
- Oversee relationships with external investment managers across traditional and alternative asset classes
- Conduct initial and ongoing due diligence on managers, strategies and co-investment opportunities
- Monitor performance, risk alignment and mandate adherence
Additional scope
- Develop presentation materials for senior management, boards and investment committees
- Monitor adherence to internal guidelines and external regulatory limits
- Support liquidity management and efficient deployment of excess cash
- Contribute to net investment income forecasting and performance attribution in partnership with FP&A
- Provide flexible support across the investment function as business needs evolve
Profile
Background & experience
- 8+ years' experience within insurance asset management or a closely related investment environment
- Strong foundation in portfolio management, asset allocation and capital markets
- Experience working with either external asset managers or internal portfolio teams
- Bachelor's degree required; postgraduate qualifications in a quantitative or finance-related discipline preferred
- Professional investment credentials (e.g. CFA) strongly preferred
8Technical understanding
- Exposure to a wide range of asset classes across public and private markets
- Familiarity with insurance capital considerations and regulated investment frameworks
- Comfortable working with market data platforms and large datasets

- Highly analytical with strong quantitative capability
- Confident communicator able to engage senior stakeholders
- Clear, concise written communication for investment proposals and internal documentation
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills essential
- Collaborative approach with the confidence to challenge constructively
- Experience with data or programming tools (e.g. SQL, VBA, Python, Power BI) is advantageous
Job Offer
$185,000 - $200,000 base salary.
