Grant Accountant

$35.00 - $38.00/Hour

The Grant Accountant is responsible for the financial management, reporting, and compliance of government and private grants. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate grant tracking, budget management, and reporting in alignment with organizational and funder requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the non-profit sector and a strong understanding of grant regulations and accounting principles.

Description

  • Manage all aspects of post-award grant accounting, including budget tracking, expense allocations, and financial reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports for internal management and external funders

  • Monitor grant spending to ensure compliance with funder guidelines and organizational policies

  • Collaborate with program managers and development staff to ensure proper allocation and use of grant funds

  • Assist with grant audits and ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and in compliance with federal, state, and private funding requirements (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance)

  • Perform monthly reconciliations for grant-related accounts

  • Support the annual budget and audit processes as they relate to restricted funds

  • Maintain grant files and records in accordance with grantor requirements and internal policies

  • Assist in the preparation of financial data for grant proposals and renewals

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or progress toward CPA a plus)

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in grant accounting within a non-profit organization

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles

  • Experience with federal, state, and private grant compliance and reporting

  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP, Sage Intacct, or similar)

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
