My client is a leading construction firm with a strong reputation in commercial and high-end interiors, specializing in corporate interiors, law firms, and capital improvements. With a portfolio that includes projects ranging from 4,000 to 45,000 square feet, and contract values between $800,000 and $5 million. They pride themselves on delivering quality work that drives 100% repeat business. Their office is based in Beltsville, MD, and they handle projects across the DC Metro area, including Northern Virginia and Bethesda.
Description
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the project management team in all aspects of commercial interior projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The APM will work closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Superintendents to facilitate project success.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing commercial interior projects.
Support Project Managers in budgeting, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
Prepare and track project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
Maintain project schedules and ensure timely material procurement.
Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Assist in job site visits and meetings to monitor project progress.
Help ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
Profile
The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented professional looking to grow within the commercial construction industry. They should have a strong desire to learn, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and excellent communication skills. The perfect candidate will have:
2+ years of experience in construction project management or a related field.
Familiarity with commercial interiors, corporate spaces, or law firm projects is a plus.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
A proactive approach to learning and career development.
