A prestigious financial services firm headquartered in New York City is seeking an experienced and polished Payroll Manager to lead their payroll function across the U.S. and Canada. This is a strategic role and will oversee all aspects of payroll tax reporting, compliance, filings, and audits while managing a small, high-performing team.

Description
Oversee all aspects of payroll tax compliance for U.S. (W-2) and Canadian (T4) employees
Ensure timely and accurate federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and payments
Lead the year-end tax process, including reconciliation and submission of W-2s and T4s
Manage and mentor a team of two, providing day-to-day oversight, guidance, and development
Serve as the subject matter expert on all payroll tax matters, including regulatory changes and audit preparation
Collaborate cross-functionally with Payroll, HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure data accuracy and compliance
Own the payroll tax functionality in Workday and continuously optimize processes for efficiency and accuracy
Respond to tax agency notices, audits, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Maintain strong internal controls and documentation to support compliance standards
Profile
8-10+ years of payroll tax compliance experience in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment
Prior management experience is strongly preferred
Workday experience is required
Deep knowledge of both U.S. and Canadian payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements (W-2s, T4s)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Exceptional communication skills and professional presence-must be comfortable liaising with senior leadership
High degree of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential data
Bachelor's degree preferred; CPP designation a plus
