Our client is a distinguished and well-established General Contractor ranked in the Top 150 ENR, with a long-standing presence of over 50 years in the Carolinas. They focus on ground-up commercial, educational, healthcare, and municipal projects across the Charleston, SC region.

They are currently in search of an Assistant Project Manager experienced in their key markets to contribute to major healthcare, commercial, and educational projects. The role is also open to a Project Engineer ready to advance in their career. The successful candidate will work closely with a Project Manager who has progressed internally from an APM to a PM. This position offers a remarkable opportunity in the rapidly expanding Healthcare Construction sector, a key focus area for the company.

Description

The APM - Commercial Construction - Charleston will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and coordinating all project resources from initiation to completion, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery in a collaborative setting.
  • Managing team development and performance.
  • Setting job expectations, enforcing policies and procedures, and guiding and mentoring team members.
  • Conducting regular meetings to monitor project progress, ensure compliance with technical, safety, and legal standards, and stay within budget.
  • Applying strategic problem-solving skills to enhance project value.
  • Collaborating with the pre-construction team during project development.
  • Handling budget management and financial reporting, analyzing reports to maintain budget adherence.

Profile

The successful APM - Commercial Construction - Charleston will have the following experience:

  • At least 2 years of construction experience with a general contractor.
  • Experience in ground-up commercial, educational, healthcare, or municipal construction projects.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Project Management Software is advantageous.
  • A solid understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project outcomes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • A professional demeanor with a business-oriented approach in all interactions.

Job Offer

The successful APM - Commercial Construction - Charleston will receive:

  • A competitive base salary based on experience, typically between $70,000 and $95,000.
  • Discretionary bonuses.
  • A vehicle allowance of approximately $600 per month.
  • Company-provided cell phone and laptop.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and sick leave.
