R&D Engineer - Providence, RI

Description
You will report into the Director of R&D and be responsible for:
- Designing and testing mechanical systems and components to support product and process development
- Supporting the development and sourcing of automated equipment, tooling, and fixtures
- Leading project planning activities by tracking tasks, timelines, and deliverables
- Conducting root cause analysis and identifying opportunities for process or product improvements\
- Planning and executing testing, validation, data collection, and documentation activities
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers during design and development
- Producing CAD models and drawings for new concepts, equipment, and mechanical systems
- Working independently while contributing to a primary cross‑functional project in a hands‑on R&D environment
Profile
The successful candidate will have:
- 3-7 years of experience in mechanical design or development within a manufacturing or R&D setting
- A BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- A track record of supporting engineering projects and coordinating tasks or timelines
- Solid modeling and drawing experience using SolidWorks
- Experience working hands‑on with mechanical systems, testing, or equipment development
- Experience troubleshooting issues and improving designs or processes
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- The ability to work independently in a fast‑moving, multitask‑heavy environment
