Description
- Lead and manage the preconstruction process from early conceptual budgeting through GMP and contract award
- Develop detailed conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates for commercial construction projects
- Drive value engineering efforts to optimize cost, schedule, and constructability
- Partner closely with owners, architects, engineers, and internal operations teams
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and scopes to identify risk, cost drivers, and opportunities
- Create and manage bid packages, evaluate subcontractor proposals, and recommend selections
- Establish preliminary project schedules and logistics plans informed by field experience
- Support seamless handoff from preconstruction to operations teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, processes, and standards
Profile
The ideal candidate is a seasoned Preconstruction or Estimating professional with a strong background in commercial construction and hands‑on field experience earlier in their career.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in preconstruction, estimating, or cost management for commercial projects
- Prior on‑site experience (Superintendent, Project Engineer, Assistant PM, or similar)
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and logistics
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with teams
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with owners and design partners
- Comfort managing multiple projects concurrently
- Preference for candidates located along the Northeast corridor (Boston-NYC-Philly-DC), though remote
