Assistant Project Manager - Public Projects $50M+ - Waltham MA
Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support their growing pipeline of public projects. The APM will assist in the management of a $50M-$60M, 100,000 sqft public school project in their Waltham MA Office. This role offers hands-on experience in managing large-scale, ground-up construction while providing direct exposure to leadership.

Description
The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for:
Assist with subcontractor and supplier buyouts, procurement, and contract management.
Support project closeout documentation and ensure all requirements are met.
Manage the submittal and RFI processes, ensuring timely responses and approvals.
Evaluate RFPs and solicit competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
Oversee owner and subcontractor change orders, tracking costs and approvals.
Proactively resolve project-related issues to keep schedules and budgets on track.
Monitor and ensure the timely procurement of materials.
Work closely with the project management team in a small, collaborative environment with direct access to ownership.
Profile
The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for:
1-5 years of experience in the construction industry.
Preferred project background: Ground-up or renovation experience on projects $20M+, ideally within public, academic, or K-12 construction (multifamily experience is less preferred).
Education: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Technical Skills: Experience using Procore or other construction management software.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Must be commutable to Waltham, MA. No hybrid/remote options available.
Job Offer
What is on offer for the Assistant Project Manager:
Salary: $85K-$125K (based on experience).
Project Bonus: For on-time project completion.
Health Benefits: 100% employer-paid health insurance
PTO: 2 weeks vacation to start, plus 5 sick days and 2 personal days.
