Senior Accountant - Rockville Centre, NY
The Senior Accountant position in Rockville Centre, NY requires expertise in accounting and finance, with a focus on overseeing financial operations and ensuring compliance with regulations. Client Details
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in month‑end close, financial reporting, and audit preparation for multiple corporate entities. This role requires strong GAAP knowledge, hands‑on journal entry work, and the ability to analyze financial results and prepare supporting schedules. The Senior Accountant will interact with leadership and external auditors while contributing to accurate, timely financial statements and organizational compliance.Description
- Perform assigned accounting functions and prepare accurate, timely internal financial reports.
- Compile and update monthly financial statements and supporting documentation for quarterly and annual reporting.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for expense and balance sheet accounts across corporate entities.
- Create supporting schedules for tax filings, including Forms 990 and 1120.
- Analyze general ledger accounts, supporting schedules, and workpapers for interim, monthly, and year‑end close.
- Conduct variance analysis and present findings to leadership.
- Assist with external audit requests and support annual audit preparation.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills; experience with Lawson, Strata, or Essbase is a plus.
- Apply working knowledge of grant accounting and grant tracking when needed.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by Finance leadership.
Profile
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required).
- 3-5 years of accounting experience (healthcare preferred).
- Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of GAAP.
- Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Experience preparing financial statement footnotes is a plus.
- Flexibility to work overtime during peak reporting periods.
