Assistant Project Manager - Commercial Construction
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors, the APM helps ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with contract requirements and company standards.

Description
Project Coordination & Administration
- Assist with the day-to-day management of multiple commercial construction projects.
- Support project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change orders, and closeout packages.
- Maintain organized project files, logs, and tracking systems.
- Help prepare and update project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
- Distribute project documents to subcontractors and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Track subcontractor progress, deliverables, and adherence to project deadlines.
- Coordinate material procurement, delivery schedules, and long-lead items.
- Assist in evaluating subcontractor proposals, scopes of work, and change order pricing.
Budget & Cost Control
- Support the Project Manager in monitoring project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial reporting.
- Review subcontractor invoices, verify quantities, and assist in processing pay applications.
- Identify potential cost impacts and support documentation of cost events.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Work with field teams to ensure project quality control processes are followed.
- Assist with safety documentation, compliance tracking, and reporting.
- Participate in site walks to review progress, verify installations, and assist in resolving field issues.
Communication & Collaboration
- Coordinate internal and external project communications to keep all stakeholders aligned.
- Support weekly project meetings, preparing agendas, notes, and tracking action items.
- Interface professionally with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (REQUIRED)
- 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction or related industry (internships included).
- Experience with ground-up, interior fit‑out, renovations, or other commercial project types
- Procore Experience (REQUIRED)
