The Business Development Manager plays a key role in driving growth by leading efforts within a specific area. The BDM focuses on improving market position by leveraging a strategic approach. The main objectives are to execute the market strategy, gather critical market data, and acquire comprehensive project details. The BDM actively identifies and nurtures opportunities by engaging key decision-makers, such as owners and engineers.

Client Details

A leading global manufacturer and provider of pipe joining solutions. With a history spanning many years, the company is renowned for developing advanced products that simplify and enhance the efficiency of pipe installation in construction projects. They specialize in designing and producing mechanical pipe joining systems, valves, fittings, and related products that serve a wide range of industries, including commercial construction, industrial, oil and gas, mining, power, and fire protection. This specific Business Development Manager opportunity focuses on the construction industry and HVAC systems.

Description

  • Territory Strategy: Work closely with the Regional Business Development Manager or Divisional Sales Leader to evaluate and prioritize target accounts in the assigned region.

  • Annual Business Plan: Develop and implement a strategic business plan to improve specification standing in the market, focusing on master specifications, project specifications, and owner guidelines.

  • Expand Market Reach: Strengthen presence in key accounts (owners, engineers, general contractors) by influencing owner guidelines, project specifications, and master specifications.

  • Salesforce Utilization: Use Salesforce to track and collaborate on account and project details with the sales team, ensuring smooth coordination and communication.

  • Project Lifecycle Handoff: Ensure successful project handovers to the commercial sales team at appropriate stages of the project lifecycle.

  • Industry Expertise: Develop deep knowledge of the following:

    • Product features, benefits, and market applications
    • Specifications and their role within the industry
    • Competitive landscape and product positioning
  • Industry Networking: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, and key industry players. Actively engage with local trade organizations and professional associations to increase industry presence.

  • Market Intelligence: Keep up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to stay ahead of the competition.

  • Additional Responsibilities: Take on other tasks as assigned.

Profile

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience: Prior experience in sales, particularly within the commercial construction or engineering industries, is strongly preferred. A proven ability to manage accounts, drive sales, and achieve targets is essential.

  • Skills: Strong project management and communication skills. Ability to write and develop design specifications is a plus.

  • Personal Attributes: Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Must demonstrate resilience, adaptability, creative problem-solving skills, and resourcefulness.

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50+ pounds and be willing to travel as needed for the role.
