Quality Engineer - Metal Manufacturing - Danvers, MA

The Quality Engineer will review engineering drawings and routers to ensure conformance with customer requirements, initiate FAI and SPS requirements for new jobs, and oversee the calibration and internal audit programs. Additionally, they will assist the Quality Manager with 3rd party, special process, and customer quality system audits, and provide back-up support for the Quality Manager and Lead Inspector as needed at our Danvers, MA facility.

Description

The Quality Engineer - Metal Manufacturing, will:

  • Review design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand product scope and requirements.
  • Ensure products meet organizational and customer quality standards.
  • Provide analysis and expertise to support product development and operations teams during inspections.
  • Investigate non-conformance, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, mitigate defects, and prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and industry standards and regulations.
  • Review POs to ensure proper customer requirement flow-down.
  • Initiate first article, VSE, and customer-specific requirements for new jobs.
  • Oversee calibration system for all measuring equipment, gauges, and fixtures.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with 3rd party, special process, and customer audits.
  • Back up the Lead Inspector and Quality Manager as needed.
  • Coordinate and support the internal auditing program and inspection activities.

Profile

  • Ability to read and interpret customer prints, extract key characteristics, and create balloon drawings.
  • Experience with internal auditing and filing first articles.
  • Familiarity with third-party audits (ISO, AS9100, AS13100).
  • Knowledge of GD&T and ability to read machining and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, specifically exotic metals, stainless, and mild steel.
  • Proficiency with standard quality control measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, height gauges).
  • Experience with CMM (Romer Arm CMM is a plus).
  • Understanding of NDT processes, including FPI and X-ray.
  • Ability to create and organize inspection reports and bubble drawings for new parts and revisions.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and laser lab testing procedures.
  • Methodical, dependable, and detail-oriented work ethic.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in quality engineering with a degree.
  • Local to Danvers, MA
