General Superintendent
Be a general superintendent for a Chicago-based General Contractor that focuses on commercial and light industrial projects throughout the Chicagoland area. This Superintendent would be in charge of overseeing projects, superintendents, and everything field related. This will be a client facing role.
Client Details
This construction company does close to $250M in revenue annually throughout the United States. Our client focuses mostly on light industrial work, but also has completed hospitality and commercial work. They are looking for a hardworking, self sufficient, general superintendent who has the experience overseeing other superintendents.
Description
Provide daily, on-site, project management and be responsible for all aspects of the project.
- Oversee a team of superintendents and project engineers
- Office based role, with the need to be on site at least once a week
- Negotiate all trade and vendor pricing per project to reach profitable agreements.
- Determine needed site resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to
- finish with attention to the project budget.
- Plan all construction operations and schedule all work on-site to ensure deadlines will be met.
- Schedule deliveries on-site.
- Provide a daily client update including project progress report and photographs; keep a daily log of what took place on-site for each project.
- Communicate with the client daily about the project and be prepared to answer their questions.
- Award all trade contracts and allocate their responsibilities.
- Communicate quality and performance standards to all trade contractors and vendors.
- Strive for no-defect, no schedule delay construction.
- Supervise the work of each project on-site and provide guidance as needed.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards on the job site.
- Create the Project Close Out binder.
Profile
- 10+ years of experience
- Ground up experience required
- Experience in light industrial, multistory storage facility, and precast experience required
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, FastTrack, as well as other software platforms
- OSHA certified required
- Degree in construction preferred
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Experience growing, mentoring, and developing Superintendents and Project Engineers
- Ability to be client facing
