Director of Accounting

We're looking for a skilled and dynamic Director of Accounting to lead and manage our accounting operations.

Description

• Lead and manage the overall accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close.
• Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Develop and implement accounting strategies to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget and financial forecasts, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align with organizational goals.
• Perform detailed financial analysis to provide actionable insights to senior management regarding company performance and profitability.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results and maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Lead the coordination of audits and ensure the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Work with operations teams to analyze cost structures, inventory management, and cost of goods sold (COGS) for accurate product pricing and profitability.
• Support ad hoc projects as needed, including mergers, acquisitions, or system upgrades.

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
• 8+ years of accounting experience with at least 4 years in a leadership role, preferably in food manufacturing or the consumer goods industry.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
