Strategic Category Manager - Castings and Fogings
Our client is seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Category Manager - Castings & Forgings to lead global sourcing strategies, supplier management, and cost optimization initiatives for castings and forgings. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, proven negotiation skills, and experience working with global supply chains.

Description
Category Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for castings and forgings to support operational and cost-efficiency goals.
- Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry benchmarks to drive competitive advantage.
Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify global suppliers for castings and forgings.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, delivery performance, and innovation.
- Conduct regular supplier business reviews and performance evaluations.
Cost Management & Negotiation:
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, should-cost analysis, value engineering, and supplier negotiation.
- Negotiate long-term contracts and agreements that secure favorable terms and pricing.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and finance teams to understand technical requirements and ensure supplier alignment.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) with sourcing and procurement strategies for cast and forged components.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Monitor supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Profile
A successful Strategic Category Manager - Castings and Forgings should have:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field. MBA or APICS/ISM certifications a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years in strategic sourcing or category management, specifically in castings and forgings.
- Experience with global supplier bases and complex manufacturing environments.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of casting and forging processes (e.g., sand casting, die casting, open/closed-die forging).
- Familiarity with should-cost modeling, metal markets, and quality control standards (ISO, PPAP, etc.).
Skills:
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and sourcing tools (e-sourcing platforms, analytics).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
