The Senior Estimator will provide crucial support to the Preconstruction team by spearheading competitive-bid projects and assisting with private bids. This person should be fluent with Commercial Construction Estimating and be interested in long-term growth in Birmingham, AL.

My client, a mid-size GC, provides Construction Management and General Contracting services in the Greater Birmingham market. They foster relationships with their clients to add value, and have numerous repeat clients due to the quality they provide and experience feedback they are known for. They do not specialize in one market sector, but rather chase any noteworthy projects across the Central AL territory. This company, founded over 20 years ago, has seen a tremendous amount of growth in the past decade - taking their average project size from $10M to upwards of $30M while simultaneously increasing company headcount by 30% year-over-year on average.

They are quickly becoming the premier local GC in Birmingham, and have seen success across the board regardless of market conditions. That being said, we are searching for an experienced Estimator to join the team and continue the growth pattern - specifically focusing more on the hard-bid side of the business plan.

Description

• Guide multiple projects operationally across the preconstruction phases
• Develop and maintain client and industry relationships
• Partner with clients to formulate and develop contract terms, communicating the expectations to the project team
• Perform competitive-bid practices to obtain new projects and help the company growth plan
• Promote a collaborative philosophy with all subcontractors, vendors and project team members
• Assist with the development of younger professionals in the Preconstruction team

Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Construction Management, or extensive equivalent experience
• 5+ years experience in an Estimating / Preconstruction role within a Commercial GC
• Experience with competitive-bid practices is required
• Proficient in Cost Reporting and other Estimating softwares required
• Desire to interact with both clients and industry peers in order to develop and maintain relationships
• Excellent communication sills
• Team-player mentality with a desire to grow within the organization
