Production Manager

The Production Manager will play a key role in overseeing daily manufacturing activities and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our production lines. This position requires a unique combination of expertise in both in-house manufacturing processes and co-manufacturing relationships within the food and beverage industry.

Description

The Key Responsibilities for the Production Manager are:

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day production operations, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives are met.
  • Collaborate closely with co-manufacturers to ensure seamless coordination, quality control, and on-time delivery of products.
  • Lead and manage production teams, providing guidance and support to achieve optimal performance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and processes that align with business goals and customer needs.
  • Monitor and analyze production metrics, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and quality standards, including FDA, USDA, GMP, SQF, and HACCP.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any production-related issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments, such as R&D, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain, to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
  • Manage inventory levels, production supplies, and raw materials to meet demand without overstocking or shortages.
  • Assist in the development and training of production staff to foster continuous improvement and skill development.
  • Monitor and manage production costs, waste reduction initiatives, and other operational efficiencies.

Profile

A Successful Production Manager candidate for a beverage manufacturer in San Diego will have:

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in production management within the food and beverage industry, with a focus on both in-house manufacturing and co-manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations (FDA, USDA), GMP, SQF, HACCP, and other relevant certifications and standards.
  • Proven track record of leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot production issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience in developing and implementing production processes, schedules, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
