Business Development Executive - Custom Engineered Gears
Our client in the highly engineered customized gear space is seeking a Business Development Executive to work as an individual contributing executive seller within the Midwest states of OH, IN, MI, IL, MN, WI, TX, OK, KS. The Business Development Executive will assume a book of existing business and support this growing company as they look to double revenue over the next 2 years.

This Chicago-area manufacturer has been producing high-precision gears and gearboxes since the late 1800s and operates multiple facilities with more than 200 employees. The company serves demanding industries such as oil and gas, mining, rail, renewable energy, and power generation, offering custom gearing solutions, rebuilds, and reverse engineering. Backed by private equity ownership, it continues to invest in advanced manufacturing technologies and has been recognized as a founding member of the American Gear Manufacturers Association.
Description
- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth within the defined territory.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across industrial sectors.
- Conduct regular in-person visits to customer sites for relationship building, needs assessment, and product presentations.
- Provide technical guidance and collaborate with engineering to develop custom solutions.
- Deliver quotations, proposals, and sales presentations.
- Track customer activity and maintain accurate records in the CRM system.

Profile
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical field.
- 3-5+ years in a technical sales role, selling highly engineered gears.
- 10+ years in a technical sales capacity.
- Ability to travel to clients 50-70%.
- In person customer meetings, product presentations, delivery of quotes, and proposals.
- Experience selling to Oil&Gas, Mining, Construction, Marine, Medical, Defense, and other industries with custom gear nears.
- Proven track record of achieving sales goals, revenue targets and driving outcomes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Track all activity in CRM system.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
