Project Manager
A construction project manager specializing in bridge and steel projects plans, coordinates, and oversees the fabrication, delivery, and erection of structural steel while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, safety regulations, and contract requirements. They manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and stakeholders to safely deliver complex bridge structures on time and within budget, often in highly regulated and high-risk environments.

Our client is is a Westville, New Jersey-based structural steel and heavy construction contractor founded in 1910, with more than a century of experience serving major infrastructure and building projects across the United States. A privately held, women‑owned business, the company specializes in the erection of structural steel and precast concrete, bridge rehabilitation and fabrication for high‑rise, industrial, and waterfront projects. They have contributed to many prominent landmarks, including major developments in Philadelphia and New York, and is recognized as an AISC Advanced Certified steel erector with a strong reputation for engineering expertise, safety leadership, and complex project execution.
Description
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of bridge and structural steel projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, general contractors, fabricators, inspectors, and subcontractors to align project requirements, sequencing, and constructability.
- Manage contracts, subcontracts, and change orders, including pricing, documentation, and negotiations related to steel fabrication, erection, and bridge components.
- Oversee project schedules and critical path activities, particularly those tied to steel fabrication lead times, crane operations, traffic control, and erection sequencing.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, and cash flow, ensuring accurate reporting and proactive cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with DOT specifications, AISC standards, AWS welding requirements, and project‑specific quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) plans.
- Coordinate with safety teams to enforce OSHA requirements, site‑specific safety plans, and lift plans for steel erection and bridge construction activities.
- Review and manage submittals, shop drawings, erection plans, and method statements in coordination with structural engineers and fabricators.
- Facilitate field operations by supporting superintendents and foremen with logistics, equipment planning, material deliveries, and problem resolution.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, leading progress meetings and providing regular updates on schedule, cost, risks, and project status.
- Identify and mitigate project risks related to constructability, weather, work windows, utility conflicts, and public impacts, especially on active roadways or waterways.
- Lead project closeout activities, including punch lists, as‑built documentation, final inspections, and turnover to the owner.
