Business Unit President

The Business Unit President will lead roughly a $150M business unit looking to achieve substantial growth driven by organic growth, M&A, and through diversification of market segments and end customers. The Business Unit President will lead the global business unit and report the Divisional President. This person will drive the overall P&L and all core functions being responsible and accountable for the overall performance and growth.

Client Details

Our client for the Business Unit President opportunity is a global industrial manufacturer providing engineered and standard solutions to markets including but not limited to oil and gas, chemicals, aerospace, automotive and general industrial. This business unit has 5 locations across the US, Asia, and Middle East. This Business Unit sits within a larger division which belongs to a globally ranked Forbes 2000 organization.

The Business Unit President will lead roughly a $150M business unit looking to achieve substantial growth driven by organic growth, M&A, and through diversification of market segments and end customers. The Business Unit President will lead the global business unit and report the Divisional President. This person will drive the overall P&L and all core functions being responsible and accountable for the overall performance and growth. This role requires someone with a strong commercial background being customer facing and drive new growth with customers and new market segments. This role is based in Houston, TX. Relocation assistance will be provided for non-local candidates.

Description

  • Full P&L responsibility of the global unit
  • Develop a strong understanding of the markets, customers, and products to drive strategic commercial decisions fueling growth
  • Provide overall strategic management, direction, and leadership of the division across all core functions
  • Create and sustain an environment and culture that drives accelerated growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure strategic direction aligns with the overall segment being accountable for the overall performance of the division
  • Develop and executive a cohesive growth strategy for inorganic and organic growth focusing on high growth and profitable market segments
  • Work with the Divisional President and overall segment on integrating future acquired companies that align with the business unit
  • Establish and implement an organizational structure in alignment with the strategic vision that supports the current organization and future state regarding customers, operations, commercial, etc.
  • Work with global leadership teams and operations to drive operational improvements for best in class production and quality
  • Work closely with functional heads contributing to contract negotiations, costing, pricing, and other related commercial activities
  • Develop annual operating budget, forecasts, and leading quarterly and annual reviews
  • Implement talent development, evaluation, and success planning activities with the HR Leadership team supporting current and future talent needs
  • Develop, maintain, and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and other strategic partners
  • Drive leadership team in a positive and collaborative approach focusing on a team based culture
  • Think like an owner driving and maintaining a goal oriented, entrepreneurial environment with legacy business and new business

Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Business, or related
  • MBA or Masters degree preferred
  • 15-20 years of experience in industrial b2b manufacturing
  • 5 years of experience in Sr. Leadership role responsible for a P&L - President, CEO, Managing Director, Vice President, General Manager, etc.
  • Strong financial acumen in required
  • Proven background and experience driving business development securing high value contracts, with a sales and commercial background
  • Strong commercial acumen and creative thinker identify new markets and applications
  • Ability to be strategic while also being hands on and tactical when required
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and team members internal and external
  • Must have experience working for a global company working with different cultures
  • Business minded and strong teamwork
  • Strong communication skills, time management skills, and a customer focused mindset.
  • Fluent in English is required
  • Strong work ethic and high attention to detail
  • Ability to travel 50% domestically and globally

Job Offer

Competitive base salary - $250,000 - $300,000 depending on experience, annual bonus 50%, long term incentive, car allowance, full benefits, 401K and match, vacation, holidays, and relocation assistance if needed.
