Components - Manufacturing Engineer - Watertown, CT
The Manufacturing Engineer will create, edit, and troubleshoot CNC code for both turned and milled products, with hands-on experience in CNC milling and lathes, including tool setting, fixture setup, and program adjustments. They will develop multi-step manufacturing processes, ensure product quality through inspections, and apply GD&T, Lean practices, and problem-solving techniques to resolve process issues independently.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in manufacturing processes.
- Identify and address processes that produce substandard or non-compliant products, or require excessive maintenance.
- Assist in the development of efficient and functional manufacturing processes.
- Support the design of manufacturing steps that maximize product efficiency.
- Create and modify CNC programs, utilizing both manual 'G-code' programming and CAM software.
- Develop and update CNC programs using both manual coding and CAM software.
- Contribute to the development of effective inspection processes.
- Help design inspection methods and gauges for new or modified components and processes.
- Lead Continuous Improvement efforts on existing processes.
- Investigate problematic processes, identify issues, and implement countermeasures using LEAN tools.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels to resolve issues and enhance processes.
- Work closely with staff to ensure new or modified processes have a positive impact on the organization.
- Support the design of multi-step manufacturing processes that meet customer specifications and economic constraints.
- Utilize CAM software effectively, with proficiency in SolidWorks and SURFCAM.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- At least 5 years of experience in a CNC machining environment.
- A self-motivated and proactive individual.
- 5 years of hands-on experience working with CNC lathes and mills.
- Ability to take full ownership of a project and drive it to successful completion.
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles.
- Proficient in editing 'G-code' CNC programs both manually and using CAM software, at the machine and remotely.
- Expertise in MS Office products.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience with variable CNC programming is a plus.
- Experience with Okuma and Fanuc CNC controls is beneficial.
