Automation/Robotics - Manufacturing Engineer - Concord, MA
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) will lead the transition of new products from prototypes to high-volume production. Responsibilities include overseeing manufacturing processes, assembly tooling, and equipment validation for new product lines. The AME will collaborate with the team to meet project goals and key metrics such as safety, quality, delivery, and cost while mentoring junior engineers and production associates.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with design engineers to create new designs, emphasizing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) principles.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and equipment, while creating detailed work instructions and training teams to meet standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, particularly those involving electromechanical components and systems.
- Design, develop, and validate poka-yoke and fixturing solutions to minimize process variation and improve assembly efficiency.
- Address both electrical and mechanical issues, providing solutions to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Drive process improvements aimed at reducing cycle time and cost, focusing on eliminating non-value-added activities.
- Participate in design reviews, and ensure part drawings from engineering are reviewed and approved.
- Advocate for customers by using problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for any quality issues.
- Support the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process from initial creation to successful implementation.
- Design and develop tooling and fixtures while ensuring a safe and efficient process flow for production.
- Assess part criticality based on design requirements and its impact on overall system performance.
- Perform first article inspections and qualification of both internally machined and externally sourced parts as required.
- Implement AQL-based sampling plans to ensure part compliance and hold suppliers accountable for quality.
- Design and evaluate product packaging to meet ISTA standards for safety and durability.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer role or a similar technical capacity.
- Proficient in SolidWorks for both drawing and modeling.
- Strong understanding of how electrical controls integrate with mechanical components.
- Deep knowledge of electrical components and their integration into electromechanical systems, with experience in troubleshooting and test procedure development.
- Extensive experience with manufacturing, engineering, and quality improvement tools and techniques, such as FMEA, Design for Manufacturability (DfM), Statistical Process Control, and variation reduction.
- Skilled in mechanical inspection, including the use of hand tools, calipers, force gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with CAD software, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems.
