Senior Manager - Technical Accounting and Policy

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior Accounting Manager to join our Technical and Policy Team. This leadership role involves managing a team of accountants while providing technical accounting expertise and overseeing the development and enforcement of accounting policies.

Description

  • Technical Accounting Expertise:

    • Serve as the subject matter expert on complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, financial instruments, and other specialized areas.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP, IFRS) and guide the organization in adapting to new or updated regulations.
    • Provide recommendations on accounting treatment and policy changes, ensuring consistency across the organization.
  • Policy Development & Oversight:

    • Develop, implement, and update accounting policies and procedures to align with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
    • Ensure the consistent application of accounting policies across all departments and advise on accounting implications of business decisions.
    • Perform periodic reviews of internal controls to identify potential risks and recommend improvements to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of consolidated financial statements, ensuring they are in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Provide detailed financial analysis and insights, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for senior management.
    • Lead the financial reporting process, working with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Advisory:

    • Collaborate with other departments such as legal, tax, and operations to ensure accounting policies are adhered to and financial objectives are met.
    • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on accounting matters, offering actionable insights and recommendations.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of new financial systems or software, ensuring they align with company needs and accounting requirements.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Management:

    • Ensure the organization remains compliant with all relevant financial regulations, including tax and statutory filings.
    • Lead efforts for internal and external audits, providing timely and accurate documentation, and ensuring any audit findings are addressed.
    • Coordinate the preparation and filing of regulatory reports as needed.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency:

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline financial reporting processes and enhance the efficiency of accounting operations.
    • Identify automation opportunities and work on implementing accounting software/tools to reduce manual work and increase accuracy.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and propose actions to improve financial performance.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional certification required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting regulations.
  • Proven experience in policy development and enforcement within a large corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Excel).
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and levels of management.
