Junior Estimator - Civil Construction

The Junior Estimator - Civil Construction will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates and analyzing project requirements for construction projects. Description

• Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, grading, paving, and other site‑work components.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to identify scope requirements.
• Support senior estimators in developing accurate cost estimates and preparing bid packages.
• Gather supplier and subcontractor quotes, ensuring pricing accuracy and alignment with project scope.
• Perform basic cost analysis including material, labor, equipment, and production rates for site‑work operations.
• Help maintain historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy for future projects.
• Review addenda and project updates to adjust quantities and pricing as needed.
• Participate in job site visits to better understand field conditions, access, and construction constraints.
• Assist with proposal writing, including assembling scope narratives, clarifications, and exclusions.
• Use estimating software and digital takeoff tools (e.g., InSite, HCSS, Bluebeam) under the supervision of senior staff.
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure estimates reflect constructability and project requirements.
• Track bid deadlines and submission requirements, ensuring timely and complete delivery of proposals.
• Support value‑engineering exercises, identifying cost‑saving alternatives in materials or construction methods.

Profile

A successful Junior Estimator - Civil Construction should have:

• A strong understanding of civil construction principles and practices within the property industry.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
• A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is a plus.
