Project Accountant

Michael Page Manhattan, NY (Onsite) Full-Time
$80,000 - $110,000/Year

The Project Accountant should be highly motivated and detail-oriented. This position will play a key role in the financial management of the construction projects, ensuring that all processes are accurate, timely, and in compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, senior leadership, and other stakeholders to provide financial insight and contribute to the successful delivery of world-class construction projects.

Description

  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking reports.

  • Monitor project expenditures, ensuring all costs are in line with approved budgets.

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of project billing, including invoices and change orders.

  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to review financial performance and resolve discrepancies.

  • Manage job cost accounting, including tracking labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and other project-related expenses.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for project performance reviews.

  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, internal policies, and industry regulations.

  • Support the preparation of financial audits for projects.

  • Coordinate with the accounting team for monthly closings and reporting of project-related financial data.

  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow projections for ongoing and upcoming projects.

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • A minimum of [X] years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the construction industry.

  • Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, job costing, and project financials.

  • Experience with accounting software and project management tools (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Sage, etc.).

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Knowledge of construction contracts, billing processes, and industry standards is a plus.

  • CPA or equivalent certification is a plus, but not required.
