Quality Systems Manager

$135,000 - $165,000/Year

The Quality Systems Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and company policies. This role will oversee all aspects of quality documentation, audits, CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions), and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.

My client is a fast growing company within the consumer packaged goods manufacturing industry. They package and distribute their products to stores and customers worldwide.

Description

The responsibilities of the Quality Systems Manager for the personal care manufacturer are

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Systems Management:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP, ISO).
    • Oversee document control processes, ensuring all quality documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and properly stored.
    • Manage internal and external audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Audits:

    • Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies and industry standards, including FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ISO standards.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
    • Lead efforts to address audit findings and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA):

    • Lead the investigation of quality issues, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
    • Track, monitor, and report on the status of CAPAs to ensure timely resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities to improve quality processes, reduce defects, and enhance product consistency.
    • Implement quality improvement initiatives using tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Training & Development:

    • Develop and deliver training programs related to quality systems, regulatory compliance, and GMP practices.
    • Ensure all employees are knowledgeable about quality standards and procedures relevant to their roles.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with R&D, Production, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams to ensure quality is integrated into all aspects of product development and manufacturing.
    • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to maintain quality standards throughout the supply chain.

Profile

A successful quality systems manager candidate must have

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field (Master's preferred).
    • 5+ years of experience in quality systems management within personal care, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or CPG manufacturing.
    • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards such as FDA, GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 22716 (Cosmetic GMP), etc.
    • Experience managing audits, CAPAs, and document control systems.
    • Proficient in quality management software and ERP systems.
    • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
    • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with sustainability and eco-friendly practices in quality management.
    • Knowledge of international regulatory standards (e.g., EU Cosmetics Regulation).
    • Familiarity with risk management tools such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
