Head of Operations - Newly established banking entity
The Head of Operations is responsible for overseeing the bank's operational strategy and ensuring efficient, compliant, and scalable operations.
In the initial 'build the bank' phase, the HoO will focus on setting up the bank's operations, systems, and processes; and a subsequent 'run the bank' phase, where the HoO will lead full-scale operations, managing services for wholesale banknote and FX payment clients.

Description
The Head of Operations (HoO) will be a key executive team member, responsible for designing and leading the bank's operations across two phases:
1. Build the Bank (Launch Phase)
Develop and implement core operational strategies, systems, and processes to launch the bank.
Oversee IT setup, onboarding, back-office infrastructure, and compliance frameworks.
Work closely with key leaders (MD, CTO, Risk & Compliance) to ensure operational readiness.
Build relationships with vendors, regulators, and service providers.
2. Run the Bank (Post-Launch)
Lead day-to-day operations focused on wholesale banknote and FX payments.
Ensure smooth transaction processing, client services, and scalable operations.
Drive continuous improvement and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Ensuring full regulatory compliance (Connecticut state laws, FRBNY standards).
Overseeing outsourcing, risk management, and operational procedures.
Collaborating with the CTO to implement scalable tech solutions and drive innovation.
Setting and tracking KPIs, improving service delivery and cost efficiency.
Hiring and leading a high-performing operations team.
Contributing to the strategic direction and long-term growth of the bank
Profile
This is a hands-on leadership role based in Stamford, CT, with a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office). It offers a rare opportunity to build and shape a bank from the ground up, and then lead its operational success in a high-growth, globally connected environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Proven senior operations experience in banking or financial services, preferably regulated environments.
Strong knowledge of compliance, risk, and tech integration.
Familiarity with Connecticut banking regulations and the Federal Reserve System is a strong plus.
A strategic, hands-on leader with exceptional communication and team-building skills.
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
