Description

The Senior Environmental Specialist (Aerospace) will:

  • Oversee environmental permit compliance, including NPDES/SPDES, chemical and petroleum bulk storage, and spill prevention.
  • Manage environmental inspections, regulatory recordkeeping, reporting, and correspondence with agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with industrial wastewater treatment and RCRA waste management regulations.
  • Maintain accurate chemical inventory records and ensure proper handling and storage.
  • Participate in and support EHS audits and compliance assessments.
  • Lead compliance-driven projects, including evaluation, equipment selection, purchasing, installation, and policy implementation.
  • Update and revise environmental programs and policies as needed.
  • Prepare and submit required annual and periodic environmental reports (Tier II, EPCRA TRI, RCRA, water withdrawal, industrial waste discharge).
  • Manage hazardous waste accumulation, reduction, and disposal processes.
  • Ensure compliance with air, water, and waste regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Support SPCC, CFATS, Clean Air Act, and EPCRA/SARA requirements.
  • Monitor and implement changes to environmental regulations affecting operations in Albany, NY.

Profile

The ideal Senior Environmental Specialist (Aerospace) candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with electroplating facilities is a plus.
  • CHMM certification preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver environmental compliance training.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage stress and handle multiple tasks effectively in Albany, NY.
