Project Manager - Commercial Construction - All Local Projects
The Construction Project Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of a 100,000 sq ft ground-up education facility, ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This role involves overseeing all phases of construction, managing subcontractors and vendors, maintaining safety compliance, and serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders.

Our client is a well-established, mid-sized commercial general contractor based in O'Fallon, MO. With a strong reputation for quality and integrity, they specialize in delivering high-performance construction solutions throughout the St. Louis metro and surrounding areas. Their portfolio is diverse, with approximately 60% of work in the public sector-including education and municipal facilities-and 40% in private sector projects such as commercial and retail developments.
All projects are locally based, eliminating the need for travel, and range in value from $3 million to $45 million. With an annual revenue of approximately $70 million, this company combines the stability of a seasoned builder with the close-knit culture of a regional firm.
Description
- Lead and manage all phases of construction for a 100,000 sq ft ground-up K-12 or higher education facility from preconstruction through project closeout
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and logistics plans in coordination with the project team and stakeholders
- Oversee and direct on-site activities, ensuring work is performed in compliance with plans, specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations
- Manage relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely communication and resolution of issues
- Coordinate and lead project meetings, including OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) and subcontractor meetings
- Ensure proper documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily reports, is maintained throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor and control project costs to ensure alignment with budgets and identify potential cost-saving opportunities
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and delays to maintain project timelines
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, permitting processes, and safety regulations
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork on the job site
Profile
- 10+ years of construction project management experience, preferably with a commercial general contractor
- Proven track record of successfully managing ground-up projects ranging from 50,000 to 150,000 sq ft, ideally in the education or public sector
- Strong understanding of all phases of construction, from preconstruction to closeout
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore or Autodesk Build
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification (minimum requirement); OSHA 30 is a plus
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively
- Demonstrated ability to maintain project schedules and budgets while ensuring high-quality and safe job site operations
- Skilled in reading and interpreting construction documents, contracts, and technical specifications
- Familiarity with local building codes, permitting processes, and inspection requirements
- Self-driven and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to delivering successful outcomes
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is a plus
Job Offer
- Base salary up to $135k
- The company pays $500 a month to cover the employees health, dental, and vision expenses
