Accountant

This accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day project financials, including job costing, budgeting, invoicing, and expense tracking across multiple active construction projects. They will work closely with project managers and field teams to ensure accurate reporting, support month‑end close activities, and help keep projects on schedule and within budget.

My client is a well‑established construction company in Florida that specializes in managing and delivering commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects across the region. They are known for their hands‑on approach, strong project execution, and commitment to completing work safely, efficiently, and within budget.

Description

Manage project‑based financials, including budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and variance analysis.

Process and review subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, change orders, and progress billings.

Track and reconcile project expenses to ensure accuracy and alignment with project budgets.

Prepare monthly financial reports, job cost summaries, and project profitability analyses.

Collaborate closely with project managers and field teams to monitor project progress and support financial decision‑making.

Assist with month‑end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries.

Maintain accurate and organized project documentation and financial records.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.

  • Identify discrepancies or cost issues and work proactively to resolve them.

Profile

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

2-5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in the construction industry (required).

Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and WIP (Work‑in‑Progress) reporting.

Experience working with construction accounting systems such as Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore, Jonas, or similar.

Solid knowledge of GAAP and project‑based accounting principles.

Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially when partnering with project managers and field teams.
