Quality Engineer - Metal Fabrication | Mundelein, IL
This Quality Engineering role is with a prominent metal stamping and fabrication manufacturer based in Chicago's northern suburbs. Working alongside the Quality Manager and cross-functional teams, the position is responsible for core quality activities including PPAP, CAPA, root cause analysis, and inspections, while also contributing to product and process improvement efforts.

Over the years, they've expanded their focus to include perforated metal, rail safety, and a wide range of stamped and fabricated metal products. Now a recognized leader in expanded metal, perforated metal, and safety grating solutions serving diverse industries, they're seeking to expand their Quality Team!
Description
- Maintain and improve the quality management system, including documentation for procedures, audits, controls, corrective actions, and equipment calibration.
- Create and revise standard operating procedures to ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
- Perform internal quality audits, record findings, and follow up on necessary corrective actions
- Investigate internal quality issues and customer complaints through root cause analysis and recommend effective solutions.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans to address quality concerns in manufacturing processes and customer feedback.
- Track and report quality metrics, corrective action statuses, and trends to management.
- Inspect incoming materials and finished components to verify compliance with blueprint specifications.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.
- Work closely with external suppliers and internal purchasing teams to resolve material quality concerns and ensure vendor compliance with quality standards.
- Oversee and update product setup details, including part numbers, descriptions, BOMs, routings, and labor standards.
- Calculate and analyze costs for both new and existing part numbers
- Manage engineering change notices and ensure accurate implementation.
- Interpret product drawings, specifications, and technical data to develop efficient manufacturing processes.
- Define process workflows such as fabrication, assembly, and cost estimation, with a focus on safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of one (3) year of combined Engineering and Quality experience
- Strong knowledge of SAP ERP system.
- Metal Stamping or metal fabrication experience
- Proficiency with measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, comparators, gages).
- Understanding of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to drive issues to closure.
- Bi-Lingual Spanish a plus

Job Offer
- Salary ranging from 75,000 to 90,000 based on experience
