Accountant
The client are a family owned general contractor, that specialize in the building and construction of luxury waterfront homes in the Florida area. They are based in St. Petersburg (Tampa, FL) and they are looking for an Accountant to join the team on a permanent basis to help manage the project and corporate accounting across the business.
Client Details
The client are a $25-35M revenue company that are looking for an Accountant to join the team. The finance department is made up of 3 others that work across all of the company's construction projects. The successful Accountant MUST have prior experience working within the construction industry, and will report directly into the owner of the business.
Description
The successful Accountant will:
- Oversee full-cycle job cost accounting for custom home construction projects, including detailed tracking of all project-related expenses and revenues.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) for multiple active construction jobs.
- Prepare and submit monthly owner billings and bank draw packages, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Issue and manage construction contracts, including coordination with project managers and clients to ensure proper documentation and execution.
- Handle bi-weekly payroll submissions to a third-party payroll provider, ensuring accuracy in hours, classifications, and reporting.
- Maintain financial oversight of all active projects, including budgeting, cost tracking, and cash flow management.
- Monitor and manage company-wide overhead expenses, including tracking, approval, and timely payment of all general operating costs.
- Coordinate and administer employee benefits, including setup and ongoing management of company healthcare plans.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, contracts, and construction lending requirements.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, ownership, and vendors to support financial transparency and job profitability.
- Prepare financial reports and provide insights to support strategic decision-making and company growth.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records for audits, lenders, and internal review.
Profile
The successful Accountant will:
- Have approximately 10 years of experience within accounting and finance
- MUST have a strong background working within general contractor and construction businesses
- Happy to travel to the St. Petersburg, Florida office 4-5 days per week
- MUST have strong Excel skills
- Prior working knowledge of the system Quickbooks Online
- Good team player
- Adaptable
Job Offer
- $90,000 - $100,000
