Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in the organization's day-to-day financial operations, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable and Payroll. This individual will ensure timely processing of vendor payments, maintain payroll records, and support the broader finance team with reconciliations and reporting.

Description

• Process and code vendor invoices; ensure timely and accurate payment

• Prepare and review biweekly or semi-monthly payroll

• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with state/federal requirements

• Reconcile AP and payroll accounts monthly

• Assist with month-end close and journal entries

• Support audits and grant reporting as needed

• Communicate with vendors and staff regarding payment or payroll inquiries

Profile

• 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting

• Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable and Payroll processes

• Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP, Paychex, ADP)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
