Description

Director of Business Development - Commercial Construction



  • Strategic Planning and Market Analysis:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the company's growth objectives.
    • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, key industry players, and potential opportunities in the commercial construction sector.
    • Evaluate and prioritize target markets and clients based on revenue potential and alignment with the company's capabilities.


  • Client Acquisition and Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, architects, project managers, and decision-makers.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and industry events.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions to meet project requirements.


  • Proposal Development and Contract Negotiation:
    • Oversee the preparation of high-quality proposals, presentations, and bids to secure new projects.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proposals accurately reflect the company's capabilities and competitive advantages.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms that align with company objectives.


  • Collaboration and Leadership:
    • Work closely with the project management, estimating, and operations teams to ensure seamless project handoffs and client satisfaction.
    • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior business development staff, fostering a culture of growth and innovation.
    • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to enhance brand visibility.


  • Performance Metrics and Reporting:
    • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development efforts, including revenue growth, client retention, and market share.
    • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on business development activities, progress, and challenges.

Profile

Director of Business Development - Commercial Construction

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing within the commercial construction industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing and managing high-value contracts and client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of the construction process, project lifecycle, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and other business development tools.
