Project Engineer - Commercial Construction
We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial and institutional construction projects across Middle Tennessee. This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, collaborative, and excited to learn all aspects of project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.

Our client is a well‑established Middle Tennessee general contractor founded in the early 1980s, known for delivering commercial, institutional, educational, medical/research, historic, religious, retail, and specialty projects. They are recognized for successfully executing complex builds-including historic preservation, high‑expectation architectural work, and projects requiring sophisticated preconstruction and construction management expertise.Their portfolio includes high‑profile Nashville institutions such as university buildings, medical facilities, historic restorations, and large‑scale community projects, supported by longstanding client relationships and a reputation for precision and professionalism.
Description
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with daily project coordination.
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals to ensure accuracy and alignment with design intent.
- Track procurement, lead times, material deliveries, and equipment needs.
- Maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, logs, submittal registers, and progress reports.
- Support quality control processes and coordinate inspections with design teams and jurisdictional authorities.
- Help develop and update project schedules and look‑ahead plans.
- Assist in estimating activities, including quantity takeoffs and scope reviews when needed.
- Coordinate with subcontractors on technical details, clarifications, and workflow sequencing.
- Participate in OAC meetings, project walk‑throughs, and final punch list activities.
Profile
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of construction documents, building systems, and technical coordination.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with architects, engineers, owners, and field teams.
- A detail‑driven mindset, strong organizational abilities, and comfort managing multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with project management tools, document platforms, and Microsoft Office.
- Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a desire to grow into a Project Manager role over time.
- Experience or interest in institutional, historic, medical, or architecturally complex construction (preferred).
