VP C&I Credit Risk

Description

This role will consist of conducting comprehensive credit risk evaluations and providing well-informed recommendations in alignment with the bank's risk appetite and policies. This position involves implementing effective credit process controls to diligently monitor and safeguard the asset quality of the US Branches loan portfolio, as well as updating Credit Risk Policies and Procedures to reflect evolving internal and regulatory guidelines. Additionally, the incumbent will conduct meticulous industry and product research, culminating in insightful presentations to management, and will play a key role in preparing portfolio reporting.

Job Duties

Responsibilities encompass, but are not restricted to, the following:

Credit Risk Approvals

  • Thoroughly review and analyze credit requests submitted by Front Office, meticulously assessing various aspects such as limit structure, historical financial performance, base case and stress case financial projections, management capability, industry outlook, market conditions, and third-party reports.
  • Offer well-documented and thoughtful recommendations to Front Office regarding credit proposals.
  • Effectively articulate credit risk views, evaluating the bankability of Front Office requests while adhering to the Bank's policies and procedures.
  • Provide valuable insights and recommendations on key terms and conditions, approval conditions, policy exceptions, internal risk rating, and post-lending monitoring requirements.
  • Support account officers at the AVP level with loan structuring, loan exposure management, and on-site due diligence as required.

Portfolio Management

  • Conduct thorough annual and/or quarterly reviews of existing credits as stipulated by Bank policy, meticulously evaluating their performance.
  • Monitor industry trends vigilantly, accurately assessing the potential impact of client-specific negative news from a portfolio perspective.
  • Skillfully manage exceptions and pipeline to ensure efficient operations.
  • Foster an in-depth understanding of relevant industry knowledge, particularly pertaining to the assigned portfolio, and develop expertise in banking products and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate proactive initiative in acquiring and updating knowledge encompassing industry dynamics, product insights, market conditions, and adherence to policies and procedures.

Knowledge and Learning

  • Cultivate extensive industry knowledge, with a particular focus on the assigned loan portfolio, at the VP level.
  • Develop comprehensive expertise in banking products and a profound understanding of regulatory requirements at the VP level.
  • Exhibit a relentless drive to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform job functions optimally, encompassing industry insights, product understanding, market dynamics, and meticulous adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Showcase a continuous commitment to learning and the practical application of learned concepts at the VP level.

Profile

Job Requirements

  • For the VP level, a minimum of 7 years of C&I corporate credit risk and underwriting experience is mandatory.
  • A Bachelor's degree is a prerequisite, preferably in Finance, Economics, or Accounting. A Master's degree or MBA is highly desirable.
  • Possess exceptional financial analysis and modeling skills, along with a profound understanding of credit risk management principles and extensive knowledge of the C&I industry.
  • Preferred qualifications include CFA/FRM certification or being a CFA/FRM candidate.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin, with bilingual ability, is a valuable asset.

Job Offer

$130,000 to $200,000 base salary.
